Discover ZIP System® Sheathing and Tape.
It’s a one-of-a-kind structural roof and wall system with a built-in energy-efficient barrier that keeps moisture out and reduces air leakage, while still allowing panels to properly dry.

Plus, it goes up in just two easy steps: 1. Install the panels, 2. Tape the seams. Fewer steps results in 40% faster installation when compared to traditional housewrap and felt. Featured Videos:

Pink Wood

PinkShield Coating Developed in Canada, PinkShield is a water-based, proprietary, fire protective coating for use on wood which has been designed to increase the ignition time of fire while slowing down a burn if one should start. It creates an insulating barrier between the substrate and the flame, slowing the spread of fire. When applied to wood framing, PinkShield dramatically reduces the surface burning characteristics of the material making it slower to burn. Depending upon how thick it is applied, the coating can slow the burn rate by 10 minutes or more.

PinkShield has also been specially formulated to resist mildew growth. Other wood coatings may breakdown or deteriorate with even brief exposure to moisture. PinkShield has been third party tested against moisture exposure, using water spray, freeze thaw cycles and UV tests. Internal tests show that the paint film is still intact after 7 days of complete submersion. In the case of a flood, the paint coating would give wood extra time to dry out averting expensive teardowns. Visit the PinkShield website for more information.

BluWood

BluWood is a factory applied, two-part coating system developed by team of highly respected chemists. The first part is BluWood’s Infusion Film. The state-of-the-art Infusion Film, when applied, totally encapsulates wood components to form a water-repellant, semi vapor permeable film, which controls the moisture absorption capabilities of wood while allowing moisture vapor to escape from within. The wood continues to breathe, which helps contain normal moisture levels; the film itself is specially formulated to resist mould fungus growth on the cured film surface.
The second part is BluWood’s Wood Preservative, a proven fungicide providing exceptional protection.

A cost effective solution
Homeowners want to protect themselves and their investment when building or renovating their house. Weather, scheduling conflicts and other unforeseeable delays leave building materials susceptible to excessive moisture which can lead to mould and insect infestation. By choosing BluWood, homeowners and builders can protect their materials before, during and after construction. BluWood protects against replacing damaged inventory, construction delays and costly clean up and goes a long way towards protecting the investment you have made in your house.

Common Engineered Materials

    TGI Joists
Picture
An engineered wood joist, more commonly known as an I-joist, is a product designed to eliminate problems that occur with conventional wood joists. Invented in 1969, the I-joist is an engineered wood product that has great strength in relation to its size and weight. The biggest notable difference from dimensional lumber is that the I-joist carries heavy loads with less lumber than a dimensional solid wood joist. As of 2005, approximately 50% of all wood light framed floors used I-joists.  I-joists were designed to help eliminate typical problems that come with using solid lumber as joists. The advantage of I-joists is they will not bow, crown, twist, cup, check or split as would a dimensional piece of lumber. I-joists' dimensional soundness and little or no shrinkage help eliminate squeaky floor.

Roof Trusses

Roof trusses are a standard part of many building designs, as they hold a number of advantages--both from a design and a practical perspective. Trusses allow for wider spans and increased loads, as well as being available in a number of different designs--each one performing a specific function. This means that there is always a design of truss available for what you need.

Roof trusses can be installed and erected quickly, with many being fixed in a single day. This allows for a quicker build on site, which ultimately saves money. Getting the roof on a structure in a shorter time also reduces the exposure of the building's interior to the elements--something which can prevent damage.
